<In 18 mos or less we will have a serious glut of fo capacity. >

ROTFLOL

Quest needed customers, and US West was the fastest way to get them. They needed brand recognition and steady cash flow. It had nothing to do with capacity.

Long haul capacity is limited by metro networks, which is limited by the local loop. If you are convinced bandwidth is close to over capacity, try to watch video streaming on a real networks player. Then, consider the fact that companies want to stream movies, sporting events, adds off their websites, etc.

I just got a quote for a $60K install fee and $6K monthly, for a DSL connection in Mexico. Could you please call them and tell them about the coming "glut".

We are building our backbone with ferocity, and we won't be slowing any time soon. The individuals that claim a slowdown in demand don't work in this "space".

Yes, I do...a tier 1 player. My wife, an international project manager, works for a competing tier 1 player and just waited 9 months for a circuit install in Turkey.

The reason the FO equipment manufacturers are ramping is that the technology is now beginning to move into the metro space, which is a much larger market than the long haul market. It is becoming economical to proceed. From there, it's "fiber to the curb", a huge market.
