Actually, six (6) Republican leaning counties counted some ballots by hand without an explicit request by the Bush campaign. In one of them, Seminole county, the hand recount resulted in nearly 100 votes net gain for Bush. I guess it helps if your brother is Governor. People lean over backwards to please you.

So you are saying that now in America a candidate in the lead after TWO counts now needs to petition and SUE to protect his lead.

That is ridiculous and you guys know it.

IF IT IS A STATEWIDE ELECTION, THEN YOU SHOULD PETITION THE STATE FOR A RECOUNT.

Regardless of how you would like to twist the laws.

There are two very different strategies at work.

If Bush were to play follow the leader and engage in manual recounts, he would weaken his position in the courts. Due to the selective nature of the recounts a mathematical bias exists. In addition to this, a select group of citizens are receiving special consideration while the rest of the citizens of Florida are being excluded from the same consideration. The more biased the situation, the more likely the recounts will be defeated on Constitutional grounds. The Bush people would weaken their argument by legitimizing specifically targeted recounts if they engaged in this activity themselves.
