Excellent post. I agree completely. Only I fear that the surplus will not turn out to be all the "experts" claimed it would be.

Especially if the estate tax goes bye bye. Not that I would be against that...

Actually, Nichols, it won't be that easy for the Democrats to capture the House next time around. However, the Senate is possible given they'll be so many GOPwingers up for reelection.

I think the problem Democrats will have winning the House is the rise of the Green Party which I think'll mount formidable candidates in those elections.

But you're right that a 50-50 Senate split will make passing anything virtually impossible given GOPwingers won't be able to shut off debate in order to get their vote in the Senate. And who knows, given Cheney's propensity not to vote (he voted only twice during the previous 16 elections!), maybe Cheney won't show up to break the tie. (LOL) Weird, huh?

I'm both shocked and surprised so many GOPwingers have come to Cheney's defense that Cheney so often didn't vote in national primaries, state and local elections. Additionally, I'm surprised so many GOPwingers came to Bush's defense on the DUI flap when Bush noted he didn't want to tell the American public about the incident because he didn't want his twin daughters to find out about the matter. His twin daughters, who were of voting age, had, as voters, a right to know about Bush's Maine DUI conviction--we all did!

But don't worry. Anything Gore might do, be rest assured these GOPwingers will jump all over him. Won't they?

I'm glad to see that at least someone here on the Gore side is conceding that Bush is the President-elect.
