We've all seen how absolutely archaic and ludicrous the balloting system is in many parts of the country. If nothing else, that should improve for the next election. Couldn't agree more, but doesn't the fact that most of the archaic systems are located in areas where fraud is most likely bother you? If everyone has to show up with valid ID to vote won't that take away from the core Democratic constituency?<g>

jttmab, First Lady? Now there is a misnomer. To be First Lady, it would logically follow that you would first have to be a lady. And lets get rid of this eliltist term once and for all. English monarchy left-over trash. We don't allow that here. What a load of nonsense. Is the president the "First Man?" Hillary Rodham is not the First Lady in this country to anyone, including her husband and daughter. Well, maybe she is to a few lesbians and assorted feminists. No, scratch the feminists.....they would run from the sexist term "lady" just as I do.

Hi jtttmab, Re: The conservative right wing, IMO, is self-destructive. Trent Lott is threatened with loss of control Couldn't happen a moment too soon, IMHO. I was greatly encouraged by Bush's choice for chief of staff, Andy Card. A man of intelligence and integrity. A Gore defeat certainly isn't the end of the world. Just another nail in the coffin for truth and fairness. We simply will gain a world reputation as the best liars and greediest people on the planet. Our out-of-phase disdain for the legitimate concerns of scientists and intelligent laypersons around the globe concerning greenhouse gases will simply be another item upon which the legitimacy of the American hegemony of the world stage will be diminished.
