Hi LH, All I can say is

Buy from the Scared, Sell to the Greedy!

Seems like the market's getting close to panic. National net worth is shrinking faster than a third leg in Lake Superior!

I have a couple of mutual funds that haven't really dropped much. I wonder what the heck they own! Some of the stocks I don't own but tend for others are just treading water. Mostly utilities and such. They are buoyed by their dividends. Good old GSF has been steady here as well, and paying monthly yield as well.

JFH mentioned the Catch 22 of lowering interest rates. For the cap. equipment companies export sales are hindered by high interest rates and we're still sitting with huge monthly trade deficits. This might be Catch 1/22.

I have some stock to buy tomorrow. That'll keep me busy. My Sunguard Data is ripe for another Sell tomorrow also. Nice to have something to do. Fer Sher I won't be watching CNBC.

Best regards, Tom

I've been trying to play the UOPIX, but with the down
trend I've grown cautious .. I parlay my bet using
the QQQ, ( like try to get 2x QQQ on the LOW of the
day then leg that amount into the UOPIX ) then coming
out I short the QQQ to tie off a Price I'm happy with.
When things work well I always close my QQQ side at or
before the end of the day depending on the trend.
But as things are now I'm only buying if the VIX
screams UP above 35..( was using 32 but just changed
that ) .
In the event I get the QQQ wrong I can let it fall
if need be and still go into the UOPIX as it just
gives me the UOPIX shares cheaper.
---------
Of the computer stocks I like CPQ the most.
I was playing the BHH ( B2B holders ) but wiggled out
of them and wont try em again until we stop making
new lows. B2B has a lot of upside but won't likely be the
first out of the gate.

After the 98 blow down I didn't pick the ( first out
of the gate ) I waited for the rally to get going and
then got a basket of late starters who had plenty of
room to run ( most of em were down 70%+ ) and when they
kicked in they ran even faster percentage wise
than the early runners did.
Trying to pick which ones will lead us up is to much
guess work.
But I wont think we have a firm bottom until there
is no such thing as "defensive" stocks.
