If any of us are old enough to remember that, do you think we will admit it????

Hey I can use a slide rule! VBG My dad was an engineer and I looked at it one day and said what's this? He taught me how to use it. Handy little things.

We sent men to the moon and back with folks using slide rules. Pretty incredible when you think of it.

Abacus? Nah, never used one. Slide rule? You bet! Being fast with a slipstick was important; it could determine whether you survived your physics and engineering exams.

Still have a slipstick in a closet at home. Haven't used it since '70's when calculators drove them into extinction.

The dumb spellchecker doesn't even recognize "slipstick" these days. Sic transit gloria mundi.

(OTOH, the spellchecker doesn't recognize "spellchecker".)
