Why won't Bush supporters agree to do the right thing?

Is counting dimpled or pregnant chads, "the right thing"?

"The only equitable solution in Florida is to split the electors 50/50."

You only propose that because your side would win. I would have no objection to a state, prior to an election, to proportion its electors this way. But not to change the existing rules after the election. We have a set of rules in each state that needs to be followed regardless of the outcome. Your frustration comes from the fact that you believe more voters went to the polls to vote for Gore. Maybe that is true but it really doesn't matter. You have to just accept the inevitable defeat as graciously as possible for the good of the country.

Scumbria,

re"splitting the electors"

Ok, let's split California. Or let's split all of the states.

Gore loses.
