correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the CF-18 a PC debacle?

Folks, thanks for supplying intelligent conversation on an otherwise dreary trading day. My comments are only meant to insite some debate.

I think it speaks volumes about the west that they will keep on bringing up such issues as the CF-18 incident, NEP, EEE Senate, Gun law.

The west will remain disinfranchised even if the CA does eventually come to power. I remember the years when alberta was tory blue, yet quickly switch over to reform when they discovered the tories dishing out to the east. The CA will need Ontario to get into power. To achieve that they will have to move so far to the centre that they will once again disinfranshise there core support, and a new protest party will rise in the west.

Comments?

SG :)

It's becoming clear that most Canadians fall into one of two categories: Those who hold Western or Eastern values, with the Eastern the majority.

It's also becoming clear that for a great part, the values one holds and the province where one resides has some correlation. But I must point out that a great many people have values different from their neighbours, no matter where they live. With our current system for selecting who gets sent to Ottawa, the values of the majority win, no matter how large or small the minority. So, when looking at the Liberal victory in Ontario, please don't overlook the great multitude of voters who did not vote Liberal. They feel victimized by the system as much as anyone in the West. In fact, they are forced to kiss the rings and arses of their Liberal MPs, many of whom they totally loath. They also know that a reform MP would have spoken on their behalf: Their Liberal MP, cowering under His Majesty Jean the Perpetual, wouldn't utter a peep in opposition to the party Line.

Cheers, PW.
