Appearances are more important than reality.

To a conservative like you it appears the liberals manipulated.

To a liberal it appears the conservatives manipulated.

I have heard, I have read, I have seen, tit for tat, insult for insult.

As a conservative, your opinion is predictable.

Americans looked to the Supreme Court to be above the fray, to be larger than the foibles of our selves.

They were not. The Court was just as petty as you are, I am, we are. Americans hoped for, and needed something larger, something that "looked" fair. We did not get it.

Appearances are more important than reality.

The Court's decision concretized the rift and made it palpable.

Read the Court's decision. There is ample legal precedent for the Court to have acted any way it wanted. It could not get beyond the biases you and I demonstrate here.

There is no joy in Mudville. Mighty Casey has struck out.

An intelligent Supreme Court would have said:

"Okay. Let's give Bush the election. Let's pimp those demolibs who take our name in vain. BUT we have to appear fair. How are we going to do that? We know that IF we only recount the properly counted votes and use a high standard Bush will win. Cool. Let's do that. Then everyone will continue to revere us and think our poop doesn't stink."

But instead they chose to step right in it.

Granted you find the New York Times to be a mouthpiece of leftist thinking. And perhaps those demolibs who don't have a brain of their own and think Gore won "because Gore told them so," will read this morning's headline: Justices Decision Indicates Conservatives Holding Sway and know they have been swindled by the Conservative Conspiracy, because that is what they were told.

The Supreme Court may have acted fairly, but 49.9% of the people in our country are not going to think so.

The ramifications of the Court's inability to look beyond its divisiveness will hurt you and me and us and George Bush for years, if not decades, to come.

Sad.
