JW, you are right. I think we see 2000 before 4000. I have to give you credit that you have been right on the Feds overtightening since April and the .50 point hike. Unless we see rapid rate cuts by the Fed (ie. .25 next week and at least .25 in January) we are in trouble. On the other hand if you have cash and look long term I believe if you buy selectively over the next 6-9 months with an eye on the future (3-5 years out) this will be a chance to make a great deal of money and pick up some companies at great prices. We will turn around again but it may not be until 4th quarter 2001 or 1st quarter 2002. With that said I am looking at 03 Leaps and common in some good companies.

That's why I call SI my water cooler. I long for the days in the beginning when only the hard core could find it's way online. There as has been a severe dilution to the whole online investing community due to ease of getting online and the bullishness of the past decade. As painful as all this selling is I'm hoping it is teaching and preparing everyone for the rise that will sure to come.

ps I think QCOM is close to being or is now oversold, so it can be bought.

Well spoken. Atleast there is less talk about
covered call writing.

So,

I assume everyone is buying puts today.

Not me, bought CMRC, NTAP, EXTR, NEWP.

Market should be bought in here.

See me in May.

jw..."pathological bullishness"

agree to a certain extent.....things will be volatile until the fed cuts....even after the first cut, which best case is next week, the market has to sort things out...

firmly believe the bottoming action is starting...reaction to msft has not driven all techs to test previous lows...volume below average on issues that are stabilizing....don't watch the indices, especially the nasdaq as the qqq is heavily weighted in the top ten....which includes csco, dell, sunw, msft, wcom, intc, etc...weighted by almost sixty percent....many stocks going down on lack of but volume and options expiration....

You are right and I was too.
We should have been out, and short.
Freeus
I'm waiting until Monday. This is SUCH an awful day that I think I'll wait and let it play out.
Monday I go all cash.
I have no more idea than the next person what will lead the market out.
But it might NOT be the ones we held before.
