Each office is supposed to have what is called a Compliance Officer. Lind Waldock has a building full of these guys, that should tell you something. I have a list somewhere of every damn Compliance Officer I spoke with at Lind Waldock, trying to get my own money back. See, I was in the business so I was not about to take a lot of crap. Just about every one of these mooks had an Irish surname. I guess they put them there because they thought they had the gift of the gab or whatever. I kept the records because I had to complain to the NFA. Documenting the conversations was important. In this business if someone is screwing with you it is important to keep a record. It is rare though. It's just large firms like LW that you may have problems with. Normally the smaller firms where you have less red tape it may be worked out quickly or the better large firms like Man where Integrity is pretty much still a badge of honor. At least I have never met anyone who ever had a problem with Man. I also hear that firms like J. Aron are top notch, then of course there are others that are somewhat unblemished but whatever. I held back on my thoughts about LW but if you were to go back on this thread about two, perhaps three years ago I was spitting bullets about that firm. Having 50 or 100 thousand tied up by these guys really was a issue for me. Maybe not for some but for me that was a fair amount of money. Anyway, check the IB Download. I have problems with it but been holding off only because I need to see the new version. But 6 bucks is real tempting. We had a few exchanges here on this thread about a month or two back about them. Pro and Con. The problem is that if the trade fouls up then you must contact the desk. If you do that, it's roughly 35 bucks on top. I do not find that I have to contact the desk more than perhaps 6 times a year, I trade about 35 to 50 contracts a month. So perhaps the one time in 70 to 100 is not a big deal. Anyway, I have respect for Arc. Nice people, very competent. Quick to respond. They even dismiss the fact that I get irritated and dole out a lot of crap now and then. They are more expensive than IB though, you have to do what is right for you. I have to be honest, at 6 bucks if IB would provide me with their new Interface I might try them for Index trading, why not? If they suck I could just box them in with Lind Waldock and go back to Arc. Been thinking about trading Robbins Cup. Yet another damn broker....maybe next year.
