I'm a lurker here but wanted to talk about Brinker who I've been listening to and enjoying for many years. He could have been a hero if he had stuck to that 60% cash position, but he recommended to his newsletter subscribers that up to half of that cash be put into QQQ at a level about 30% higher than where it's at now. He was trying to catch what he calls a "counter-trend rally" but missed badly.

I'm pretty much done listening to Brinker. For years he talked about dollar cost averaging, index funds and other solid advice. I haven't heard him mention DCA the entire year even though this is exactly the kind of market action where it proves it's worth. I would think A.I.M.ers would be very tuned into how important it is not to try and pick exact entry and exit points.

Hi Robert.....You asked and answered the question about when the market will turn....."Nobody Knows"......that includes Brinker of course...do some searches on Brinker...there are several threads, some off SI...if you like, I can send you some links via PM......I think you may be less impressed by him after reading "the other side of the story", so to speak.

Yes, I think most accounts that follow the NAZ and have been AIMed are very low in cash.....that is certainly true for me....but that is just what we want to happen if the turn is near, all our money invested right at the bottom!
Now if we can just find a bottom...gggggggggg

I don't want to minimize the damage....my own portfolio has been hammered probably more than most...but as long as I don't sell out, the losses remain "paper losses" and if the recovery doesn't come until the end of 2001 or 2003, its all right with me......well, not all right, but I can live with it...gggg

Heck, I may have to get a job.....wonder if the local grocery would hire an old engineer as a bagger??

Regards, Bud
