Donald ; The Sox has a major cycle
quote.yahoo.com^SOXX&d=mym&y=on
--------------
Shorter term
quote.yahoo.com^SOXX&d=5ym&y=on
While it leads us up, it also drops to
the Naz , rallies and drops again going
below it.
---------------
quote.yahoo.com^SOXX&d=2ym&y=on
Maybe it won't this time but I'm not going to
bet against it's long term pattern.
If we forget the price and look at the time it
takes then it's not been long enough for the
Sox to make and sustain a rally.
-----------------
TA aside the box makers have to discount their
products to move the inventory and the price
wars still have to kick in & run their course.
I'm afraid any rally in the sox before the price
wars is just going to fail ( be like the hook up
you see on the long term chart.)
The Sox seems to take a year to repair her damage
and I don't know why this time will be an exception.

I don't see much chance of her not making 500
and there will be plenty of time to get in
after she makes a base and climbs above her 200 dma

Maybe 450

No Chips for me any time soon

Don,

Given the seasonal strength in small-cap, mid-cap and beaten-down issues, I've been wondering if this buying isn't knee-jerk; will be curious to see if it continues beyond the first couple of weeks of the new year.

The COMPX and SPX charts look terrible to me, possibly headed to 2000/1200. Will the 1990 log trendline at 2300 trump the broken bear flag/pennant? Gaps will be filled at 2224/2340 NDX/COMPX and 1275/668 SPX/OEX.

Tech is beginning to show up on my value scans: DELL, AMAT, MSFT, ADCT, NT and HWP are buys here. INTC, IBM and TLAB are within 10% of their downside targets.

Bought SPLS, DELL, NWL and TXT this morning for one of my IRAs (one year buy and hold system). MSFT and JCI just missed the cut. They were so close I probably should have bought all six, but I already own MSFT and GM, so those two are well-represented in my holdings.

Happy New Year to all.
