America will lose it's superpower status if it mindlessly jettisons the ideals, ideas, and attitudes that make it great. Any attempt to revert back to one dominate culture with a variety of subordinate minority attractions will not work, but may well cost America the superpower status is enjoys with the conflict and lack of progress that could result.

Do you think that Italian or English suffered from standardization? It was only after the Florentine dialect became the basis of literary Italian that Italian literature flourished, and only after the London dialect of English became ascendant that English literature flourished. Diversity is good for some things, commonality is good for others. We cannot exist as a nation with no common culture, nor can the diverse cultures find a medium through which to relate to one another.......
