Neeny, To some extent, yes. It took me awhile, but I was able to rise above some of the prejudices, and worship of mammon, that she tried to instill in me. Is that fair enough?? I do not blame her, or anyone else, for my battles with the bottle. I made that conscious decision to take a drink instead of facing my problems head on. That monkey is now off my back. I consider calling alcoholism a disease a cop out. All alcoholics made the decision to drink. That is not a disease. A sad happening. I just opened my email from my daughter and she informed of a suicide of a beautiful young woman (in her 40's) that we have known for about 15 years. My heart goes out to her husband, children and parents. While we dialogue, at times vehemently, on these internet "airwaves", people all around us are hurting (and dying) for some encouragement, hope, and some tender words of love from God's people. A friend of mine that began drinking again after three years of sobriety---and I put out a request for counsel on this thread a few months back---was incarcerated a few days ago for his third dui---and will face felony charges for resisting arrest. I visited him in jail yesterday.. Sad. Sorrowful. Tough. I ask for your prayers concerning the above two situations. I have a heavy heart this morning. OMB
