OT: Hi dabum. Check it out, I believe that the loss of secrets (if it occurred) is believed to have taken place before Clinton.

Klinton???? Hellory??? Feeling a little right wing today?

Diddling with the ladies is I agree, not dependent on political affiliation. Jesse was of course wronged by the timing of the exposure of his diddling. (vbg) Many of us in the position of alpha male would be diddlers. If I was foolish enough to confess... IM(egocentric)O presidents and reverends should have a higher standard.

Let the Chinese waste their money on building aircraft carriers. One (maybe two) exocet type (70's vintage) missles would sink them quickly.

Recent political talk of a recession and fear of Chinese militarism seem to be just what may be needed for the Republican tax cut and increased defense spending. I would like to see the former. Historically cannot recall any examples of Chinese aggression beyond what they believe to be their borders. E.g. Tibet and Taiwan. Korea involvement was only caused by UN (our) pushing to the Chinese border. Hong Kong is Chinese and Taiwan is the prodigal child and probable poison pill of atavistic Communist China.

Congrats on your recent investment success. Winkman

PS: jimp: I may attend rig party in Vegas or Cancun (prefer Vegas). Have been to Vegas many times, but dislike it. Have usually taken advantage of cheap flight and quickly left to see/hike the outdoor beauty of Utah or N Arizona. Deep sea fishing and Maya ruins as well as meeting cyber friends sound appealing to me.

OT I'm on a different page.

It's refreshing to hear a bit of cold war rhetoric.
Reminds me of my youth.

But ....

It's not clear that the Chinese stole "our most secret nuclear technology", unless you believe everything you read in the papers. The so-called neutron bomb secrets were available from certain defense contractors, and not related to this Los Alamos witchhunt - that was a convenient ruse.

The Chinese had long range missiles before Clinton took office. If you don't like that, blame Bush Sr. or Reagan, or Werner von Braun, or Robert Goddard, or the tooth fairy.

You don't like the Chinese having an SPR, engaging in war games, or having aircraft carriers (sitting ducks), missile technology, or nuclear technology. You got a point here - how dare the Chinese want to be like US. Don't they know their place ?

Don't you realize that if China is offended by your remarks they can cut off all trade and Target, K-Mart, and Wallmart will have nothing left to sell ?? Our economy would be in shambles ! Demand for oil would fizzle, We'd forget Slider's advice, and all go broke.

Of course, it was always reassuring to have those commies around to hate. The Chinese are commies, aren't they, so it's OK to hate them, right ? If China does attack Taiwan, and the US joins the fray (quite possible with Bush Jr. although he said he'd pull-back as world policeman), you can bet your bottom oil-soaked dollar that US lives will be lost. The Chinese aren't quite as defenseless as the third-world despots we usually pick fights with.

- wg

P.S. Please don't construe my remarks as a defense for Clinton, who was truly an embarrassment (but maybe not as much as Bush Jr. is going to be - what a clown).

OT dabum. Quilts, thank you. Send to Frozen Acres trailer park, Park #5,830,897,677 space 96, former State of California, Zap 96999. If you can't mail till summer, send to Baked acres trailer park, same address. Be sure to put my name on it, I don't want warp, gottfried, Rory or timelord lifting my goods. I may share with Gina. Ed

PS I think Clinton was too busy fighting off those nasty republicans that were trying to prove he had a bend in his penis to watch those nuclear secrets. I don't think it did cause if it had he would have stuck it around corners to surprise the woman staffers, wouldn't you? A good joke and who could prove it wasn't Gore?
