i think as time passes that will happen. I mean, if you think about the totality of the news that came out yesterday, it's just not that bad. Corning basically had one customer push an order back.

analysts are making judgments on next quarter visibility and downgrading. they are not considering the possibility that a little reduced visibility could be priced in at these levels. they are not considering that a pick up in the economy and capital availability will provide growth down the road.

i'm not sure they are considering the pure results and comments of sdli last night. the downgrades are about getting out in front of a possible scenario where orders start dropping off because of the slow economy. that's a risk i'll take at these levels, because i think it is very small.

good luck,
ross

>>PC stocks had been going up on profit warnings and downgrades

Analysts had already lowered their estimates for the PC sector, so hints from CPQ & DELL about a brighter 2nd half have sparked some interest. In other words these stocks have been beaten down so much & have had estimates lowered that they really have no place to go but up.
Optical stocks on the other hand have the bar raised so dam high that any hint of bad news can & will send these stocks down swiftly and dramatically. Having said that I'm not saying that the optical sector is a bad place to invest. I'm only stating that it & could be very risky in the short-term.
