Thank you for excellent summary.

One more practical thing I would like to add to conversation.
Now and then discussion sparkles about intuitive feel for the stock movement. One of the questions frequently asked and extremely hard to answer is: what this feel looks like, how to recognize it etc. It seems to be one of those things that you can recognize but can not describe to others. Well, I stumbled across exercise that allows to get a taste of it.
Put three balloons in the air pushing them upward. From this moment your task is to not let any of them hit the floor. You find yourself in a state where you react on their movements with no thinking and analyzing. Eyes see, body reacts. When you stabilize situation and keep them under control, you are in the zone. Try to remember this feeling of "no thoughts, just flow". This is very close to what trader experiences when he is in the zone.

Brilliant post Moving Sphere!! I was spending the day, today, trying to summarize for myself and figure out what all this has to do with trading and this thread. So I follow your lead and post the following:

So what does all this intuitive/ego talk have to do with the original intent of this thread, the viewing of price&volume and the reality of the market?

IMO EVERYTHING! No matter what system you use, TA, Momentum, Tape reading, etc, and no matter what type of person you are, visual, auditory or kinesthetic, the main aspect is your mental aspect. The reason is simply that no matter what you use and who you are, ALL data flows (all these systems delivered to the brain by all the learning modes) eventually go through the mind and require an interpretation and decision by the mind. Therefore, the mind is the last “filter”. We see everything by this filter, the shade of the color of our glasses within the mind. A man with red lenses only sees a red room. So, no matter what system, what learning mode, your lenses determine the interpretation. This mind filter is comprised of thoughts; these thoughts are either of the undisciplined or disciplined egos. Additionally, when these thoughts are unsettled or undisciplined, the intuitive side of the brain does not function. That is why, I believe, it is so important to address the ego and intuitive aspect of the mind. “Trade what you see, not what you think,” is asking you not to think. To put the mind at rest and not add “color” to anything you see, hear or feel. When we trade it is our goal is to be in a settled, present time, centered state of mind with very little of the undisciplined ego aspect at hand.

So, how does one “teach” the undisciplined ego and intuitive aspect of the mind? As you said Threei, it is very difficult to put into words. Actually I think you CAN'T put it into words, for the intuitive is not an “intellectual” concept. It is not something you can read about, study, understand and then turn around and apply it. The intuitive, just like the 2 egos, is an internal aspect to each individual. These are aspects that can only be experienced by each individual.

What one can teach is a method or exercise to assist one to dissipate, redirect, focus, the undisciplined ego and allow one to experience the intuitive. Teaching them the method is like showing someone the road to where they are going. You will not, nor can not, transport them to their final location. One can only show the road, the individual must walk the road and experience it. As corny as it sounds, this, I have found, is the only way to truly understand the undisciplined and disciplined ego and experience the intuitive.

So, the journey, the road, (the yellow brick road?), is what can assist us all to a clearer state of mind while trading.
