I don't have enough energy to talk about this. My grandmother is disabled though AGE. Luck of the genetic toss of the dice. She is busy dying in these days, having stroke and TIA regularly. I am the kind of tired sleep doesn't fix. I'll write more later.

The reason I am so adamant about preventing unwanted pregnancy through contraception and the morning after pill, and the reason I support the use RU486, is that terminating an early pregnancy is not traumatic for the mother.

I am Catholic, so I am well aware that many believe that life begins at conception, and I don't disagree, from a scientific point of view, the early products of conception will develop into a human being if only left undisturbed. However, the early products of conception are NOT a human being, as we define human.

You may or may not be aware that the Pill and the IUD prevent conception, in part, by affecting the lining of the uterus so that a fertilized egg won't adhere. That's one reason the Catholic Church opposes artificial contraception, because the fertilized egg will simply slip out of the uterus, and to the Church, the fertilized egg is a human being.

On the other end of the scale are those who believe that women have a right to terminate pregnancy all the way to the 40th week of conception, that a fetus isn't a human being until it draws breath.

Most of us are in the middle. The extremes have taken over the dialogue. They've turned it into black vs. white, all or nothing, which is absurd. Trying to outlaw RU486 shows how extreme the pro life argument has become. Trying to keep partial birth abortions legal for the purposes of contraception shows how extreme the pro choice argument has become.

80 percent of Americans are in the middle. It's time for our voices to be heard.
