Now that requires one of two things:

An innate sense of what will cause an overdraft (and the fortitude to not write the check anyway)

-or-

A very patient bank, staffed by friendly relative and/or intimate friends

Holy moly! Do you really on the bank's statements, then? We've picked up a number of bank errors in checking statements over the years.

I am the same way...I keep a running balance in my head, but I have never once in my life balanced my checkbook.

My wife, who is an accountant found that intolerable, so she gets to pay the bills:-)
