Ted <I am afraid I am not as positive as you are and can not depend on the premise that there will be a viable alternative when we need it.>

In my Dubya voice, "Well hell no, not when we still got an ENTIRE ONE PERCENTAGE of original old growth to exploit! And Alaska, well f*ck them, there's OIL in them thar bergs! I need more proof, before I decimate the rest of God's beautiful wonders, and before I decide to take back my promises to Detroit!"

Ted, I don't normally say this but you don't seem to get it. You agreed that there were other sources of energy but they were too expensive. You insisted that this means they are not alternatives. They are too expensive because oil is cheap. If oil gets expensive enough then they will be used even if they do not become any cheaper. Therefore we will have an alternative by definition. I even used your definition.
