How are you doing, Venkie? It's hard to tell - when you are up, you are very, very up, and when you are down, you are very, very down. Why does Gilder like Avanex? Did he say anything you understood? According to the Wall Street Journal, they make photonic processors, which has something to do with fiber optics, but I have no idea how photonic processors work or whether Avanex is the best at what they do or whether anyone is buying photonic processors right now. Do you? I think the days of making big bucks buying stocks of companies you don't understand because you got a hot tip are over for now, BDWIK? Here is a portfolio someone set up for Gilder's picks starting on 1/1/2001. siliconinvestor.com And here is a portfolio I set up for Gilder's picks starting on 1/1/2000 - I let my subscription lapse so I don't have the newest stuff on it. His picks are down 62% from 1/1/2000, and up 2% for 2001. He's a very bright guy but he isn't such a hot stock picker these days. siliconinvestor.com

I was wondering how this thread got started and what was meant by a clown....now i know I hope you had time to take your dogs for a walk, but by the look of the dizzying amount of messages you posted aboout how the stk mkt is not ruling your life today I would think not. Hard to feel sorry for someone who lost money in the stock market while sitting in front of window watching the boats go by. I can only imagine what a real drop will do. Buy the dip and all will be well
