Ouch! Too bad.Total a Saab is a feat. Always first glad no one got hurt. Just lousy confluence of weather and judgement. And it was parked.

I haul cars too. And if you are a Canadian returning and bought a US car there are fees and tarifs incurred. The engineer living in Birmingham,AL bought an older Saab station wagon and when crossing the border destined to Vancouver, BC customs told him there was an additional charge for no vehicle inspection that it might be an UN-safe vehicle, and that finally got to him (the whole border process is a bit stressful) and he (mildly) exploded:
"BUT ITS A SAAB!unsafe!ITS A SAAB!"
The lady didn't even blink just waiting for more money. And needing that piece of paper stamped, paid.
Meanwhile the wife (and I told her to make a separate list of every major item and a cost basis back in Alabama) was going over my inventory and putting in dollar (Cdn) amounts and they had 3 kids worth and lots of stuff, another trying experience.
-------------bought XLK @ 28.50

What is the suicidal bambi story? Those pretty little critters sure have bad timing too. One BIG one took out my oil cooler on detroit diesel motor- another hard feat.
I am amazed at a few seconds changes entire lifetimes and plans, that space and time thing.
So you've been looking at spa's and swimming holes, must be getting cabin-fever. Gotta run

Heard you had some nasty weather. How come the Saab was on the street? Most body shops have frame straighteners and they will probably use the internet to find a rear axle.

I bet the poor kid was shook. Sometimes on ice the driver becomes a passenger. We had a lot of those don't call unless there are injuries this winter.

A tip on winter driving. At an intersection look at a cars tires. If the car is moving and the tires aren't turning, they ain't gonna stop.

A couple of Saturdays ago someone ran into and knocked down our mailbox. Big deal, right? Except our mailbox is one of those brick jobs that is set into concrete. Someone rammed it and it broke in two, so the upper half ended up on its side and the lower half was left standing there at an angle as the cement base was uprooted. It was a hit and run, so no one has fessed up to doing it. We asked all of our neighbors and they are clueless. Fortunately we were able to get it fixed for under $100 as none of the bricks were broken. We had it reset and were able to rejoin the broken halves with new mortar.
