Part of living in the country is enjoying the birds. The big deal now is a pair of great horned owls have returned to nest. The crows are fun to watch, always up to something. Mallards on the ditch now, soon it will be bluewing teal. At times we get egrets, great blue and little green herons, night hawks, doves, wrens, barn swallows, cardinals, jays, pheasants, cat birds, hummingbirds, blue birds and orioles. Last year I drove 25 miles to haul a 1/2 grown wood duck to better water when the ditch dried up. Drove to the same place this winter to watch the pheasants.
