My father would go over my homework. It was awful. Especially in the junior grades. Typical question: Fence costs $2 per foot. You wish to enclose a pen 4 feet wide by 6 feet long. How much does it cost for the fence. My answer, on a good day, $40. Then Father would step in... First, you need more than just fencing, you need posts. You can span 4 feet OK, but for 6, you'll need one in the centre too. Don't forget a gate. No point building an enclosure without a method of entry. And you'll need extra posts to support your gate. You'll need to look in the catalogue to determine the price of a gate. While you're there, get a reasonable price for fencing too. $2 per foot is ridiculous. With my new fencing costs, several posts, a gate, assorted hardware, and paint, my fence would be in the $200 range. Needless to say, I'd take my $40 answer to school and leave my correct estimate at home. Cheers, PW. P.S.
