There was a huge snow storm in the late 80's and
running I-81(shenandoah valley)VA was a disaster, same kind of weather pattern,
snow by the foot and thunder, lightning snowing storm in Philadelphia area (I lived in that area). Quite a time and had to go to Wash DC. Everything shut down.
Hope it won't happen to that extent just a little for the ground water. We have a major problem out here with not enough precipitation.

Local weather in Pittsburgh calls for 6 to 12 inches starting tomorrow afternoon....I would expect you do get at least what we get, perhaps more.

I'd get some water and wood for the fire. What they are expecting could result in power outages.

I brought another cord of wood to the house today...nothing worse than losing electricity and freezing at the same time.

I've used a wood burning stove off and on for 7 years and would not have a home without one.

SHootie

Hi CB...just stepping in for awhile, and yes, think groceries, video tapes, firewood, lanterns and candles are all in order. Plus plenty of old newspapers (additional insulation if need be)...

From being out here in the NW, and having the forecasters wrong at least 50% of the time...but when they are right...sometimes they really have underestimated...and we've been plenty happy to be prepared.

Had a huge storm early 90's...snow, ice, and no lights nor power for early 5 days...made us really appreciate what the early settlers of this country must have gone through!
