Morning, Ish. I don't either. Perhaps a new hygienist?

Blood pressure...

My husband has been monitoring BP for a few years. At first, doctors told him that 140/100 was the threshold for treatment. As years passed, the bar was lowered as his pressure climbed. Now, his doctor claims that 130/90 warrants action, with 120/80 being desirable.

I thought these changed limits were motivated more by pharmaceutical marketing people than medical research; suspicious person that I am. Apparently, higher pressures stress many organs beyond the heart and circulation system, and that maintaining lower pressures can increase both life expectancy and quality.

I'm not a medical person. I usually do what the doctor says. If he prescribes pills, I take them. If he says to stop drinking, I stop. If he says to lose weight, I diet. If he says to stop eating red meat, I find a new doctor.

Cheers, PW.
