I went for an eye appointment last year. 1pm. Got the drops put in and was sent to a waiting room. At 3 the doctor had not even come in to the building. 16 of us in that room and all with 1 o'clock appointments for the absent doctor.

I asked for the drops that would return my vision to normal and they wouldn't give them to me. I left anyway and drove home by sound.

I used to work for a large chain of pharmacies. The Commander would carry my business card so he didn't need to remember my office phone and extensions.

One day, he foolishly put his Doc appointment ahead of something important -- my birthday lunch. He was wearing his best suit and my favourite tie. And he even combed his hair before leaving the house: Not the usual once in the morning and to Hell with it the rest of the day. I'm not kidding, he looked as sharp as he ever gets. On arriving at the Doc's office, the receptionist asks for his card. He gives her mine and gets rushed right in to see the Doc.

Upon arriving at the inner sanctum, the error was discovered. The receptionist thought he was a drug salesman.

I find it's bad enough sitting in the waiting room for hours, but I get annoyed at watching pharmaceutical reps getting in on a few seconds notice when I have an appointment, and I'm sick.

Cheers, PW.
