Susan, think you missed something, it applies only to people with less than $25,000. Most day traders have a little more than that to play with. Furthermore, the real hook is that now they'll let you work on 25% margin in those trading account rather than the current 50%. How crazy can those guys be? In any event, I was under the impression that margin requirements is one of the fed's responsibilities, not the SEC, anyone knows why the change of heart?

Margin debt increased to an all-time high for the week ending March 2 !!!!! Data out Friday from the Federal Reserve shows that
the US is leveraged to the maximum as the markets are poised for new lows. Margin debt is at an all time record high. This is
incredible and ominous for the stock markets in general.

There can be no meaningful advance in the US stock market with margin debt levels at record highs. I believe the Federal
Reserve is absolutely at fault for not lowering the margin limits long ago - last year when they started raising interest rates they
should have acted to reduce margin by US consumers.

The debt has to be paid back. Do not buy the dip except in gold stocks imo.
