Re: "I'm hearing that the unions are now working on sinking McCain's campaign finance reform initiative in Washington. Seems like they just woke and realized they won't be able to buy politicians if it passes."

Political spending in the most recent presidential election:

Unions: 6%.

Business: 94%.

Now, who's buying whom?

The teachers union is especially troublesome and IMO out of control in more ways then one. Unlike what flap would lead others to believe I don't blame unions for all of society's ills. But often they are more concerned with feeding their own coffers then they truly are about the working man/women.

As an employer I now contribute 3.60 per hour into the national pension for each employee. After 25 years they at present will draw 735.00 per month at age 55. Not a real good deal compared to a 401k IMO.

But what would I know about unions, I'm just an employer puke.

Did I forget to mention that I'm a dues paying non-voting member of SMWI local 18?

RE: Teacher's Unions

As the son of a career teacher, I'll accept the abolishment of teacher's unions when I see people flocking from the private sector to teach knowing they'll be earning considerably less.

Come to think of it, why don't you start the trend in that direction. Let me know where/when you get a teaching job. BTW, that goes for any of the rest of ya who think teacher's unions should be abolished.

I ate a lot of hamburger in white sauce on toast when I was growing up and that was....well, more than 20 years ago.

More than happy to defend teachers.
