Petz, <I hope ZDNet Deutschland is trying to get a hold of one of these Gigglebooks to test its battery life when running benchmarks at 1.7V/1GHz. ... I'd be surprised if it lasted 80 minutes at 1 GHz when playing a DVD.>

Such tests would be purely academic, since SpeedStep reduces the processor down to 1.35V and 700 MHz when the laptop is running off the battery (max TDP is 16.1W at those settings).

<the "2 watts in battery saver mode" is BS, only true if the laptop spends 90% of its time in sleep mode. >

I think (i.e. don't quote me on this) that Intel uses ZDNet's BatteryMark to measure this. Of course, you could always do what Transmeta does and claim that BatteryMark isn't a good benchmark, but I sure like to know what is.

AMD should learn from Intel.
AMD should stick a 1.33 gigHhz Athlon in a notebook and power it down to run at 800 Mhz and still call it a 1.33 Mhz. Only run it at 1.33 if ambient temperature is less than freezing.
