"need to monitor developments closely" (?) As opposed to periods when they don't!??

John,
Hope you have been well!

Do you know where I can get a chart of population growth rates?

I am interested in comparing population growth rates with GDP & stock market growth rates. I read an interesting study recently & would like to do some research.

Have you read this paper by Johansen?

Johansen's theory is quite interesting. His thesis is that both population & stock market growth rates are growing at MORE than exponential rates and that they will do so until a fixed point in time..(well, 2053 to be exact). More of that later.

Here is another paper along the same lines.

My thoughts are that these ideas coordinate well with Marty Armstrong's idea of a Private Sector 51 year cycle (starting in 1980).

The idea is that this private sector funding/combined with exponential population growth, are unable to produce a long protracted bear/slow growth period. Add into the mix a "Moore" like doubling of Tech innovation, & it is unlikely that we see a prolonged resession.

Johansen sees a finite end to the growth in 2053 and predicts a Dow 100K prior to that. I would like to look at the population growth rate statistics and see if his theories make any sense. If you know of any population statistics, I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Susan

P.S. 2053 appears to be the blowup for Johansen. He does not seem to offer much hope for the world beyond that point.
