<<They are being auctioned off for pennies on dollar. >>

Funny how I keep hearing that, but never turn up all that many for sale......oh, dont get me wrong, I know there are some used servers on the market....has to be.....but my buddy who is one of largest auctioneers in southeast, hasnt been seeing them...searches on the internet do not turn up all that many....and they are certainly more then "pennies on the dollar".....at least the one's that I have located....oh yea.... Most sunw service contracts are non-transferable, so whoever buys better be getting it for pennies on the dollar cause they are gonna need the money for a service contract.........

How do YOU know that "most" of the servers sold by Sun to .coms aren't "even out of the box yet"??? Are you a Sun sales manager??? How do YOU know that "most" haven't even been paid for? Are you in the accounts receivable dept @Sun????

Sun's profits went through the ROOF last year. Clearly someone was paying for all those web-servers and .com infrastructure products.

I have had personal experience with re-sold netras. The VARs a hawking them like crazy. One problem is there's no SunService to support them. Another problem is that VAR's are morons who can't keep track of parts revs and keep shipping drivers that don't match devices. Another problem is that VAR's don't keep up-to-date on patch-revs. Another problem is that VAR's have a nasty habit of not answering or returning phone calls for support & service.

Need I say more??? What intelligent IT mgr is going to go to the used equipment market for anything but a black-box? Hmm?

Now Sun is shipping USIII's who is going to buy all those used USII's w/no support or service????

addi, looking forward to your target prices. 12-15 is quite reasonable as naz goes to 1400... Some how sox is holding well inspite of bad news. When sox breaks we will have lots of bargin hunting to do. Making a list and chking it twice right now. By april 15 we will know who is naghty or nice. What is your down side target on csco ??? I know when i first bought csco it had trailing erning of 25. It should have to goto $10-12???
