Who woulda thunkit?

Lots of people, such as every clown-killer on SI and the guy interviewed just last week in the WSJ who thinks the dow is going to 5000, the nasdaq to 1300, and the S&P to 500.

There's no shortage of doomsayers. This does NOT mean that a bottom is in either, IMHO.

"People are saying that computers are dead, that the Internet is gone, and the bubble's burst,"

"People are feeling really wounded because they bought stocks at 100 times revenues, and they can't understand why their life's savings is gone,"

"People, get a grip! Look at what you did!"
"'Hey, that truck hit me!' Well, you play in the freeway, you are going to get hit by a truck."

"We didn't predict the wild and crazy up and we didn't predict the wild and crazy down," he said. "And we're not alone. When things get back to normal, I'll be dead."

<<It's starting to look like the Dow may drop below 9000 before the carnage is over. Who woulda thunk it?>>

From my post recently on February 25 ...

S&P 500 - at 1246, if it falls much lower (say, to just the 1200 to 1210 area), it could enter free-fall to the 950 to 1050 area. Frankly, I think this is the greatest danger. 01/22/01 12:38 PM EST at 1099.11 - my new target is 850. I shorted two futures contracts on the June S&P on Tuesday and bought four June S&P puts early this morning. I liquidated all my earlier S&P options last week.

DJIA - at 10442, if it goes below 10200, could also hit free-fall and hit 9650 in a heart-beat and then 7500 to 9300. 01/22/01 12:38 PM EST at 9266.25 - my new target is 8000.

Nasdaq Composite - 2263, if it takes-out 2224, could quickly hit 1891. 01/22/01 12:38 PM EST at 1834.57 - my new target is 1500.

My heart stock continues to drop drastically with the biotechs (now at 14.63 - I bought at 20 average). We are waiting patiently for the first implant.
