Most statists aren't Stalins or Hitlers. Problem is that by pursuing their policies of ever more powerful and intrusive government they are laying the ground work for then next one that shows up.

Geez, can all of the reasonable people on this thread please agree that Stalinist Communism is as far from the
Democratic Party as Hitler Nazism is from the Republican Party?

No, because Republicans abhor the spectre of powerful government while Democrats not only embrace it, they fight for it.

Remember the Japanese internment? Or Tuskegee? They happened under the father the modern Dem Party, FDR.

Read The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt.

Did you know that the National Socialists - the Nazis - got their eugenics theories from American Liberal icon Margaret Sanger? Yes, the intellectual framework of the Holocaust was grounded in part by American Liberalism.

>>I think Pat Buchanan is about as far right as any 'reasonable' political figure

Buchanan is a chowder-head who was effectively thrown out of the GOP. He's not a Republican.

Ys Kevin I agree with your statement. However just as the liberals are very fond of stating their fears of the religious right, it is high time that conservatives counter with a reminder of where the extremes of compassion and redistribution can lead do.
Also I have always liked Jerry Brown. I may usually disagree with him but I never would believe that he would want to harm anyone or that he is corrupt.

This guy is a piece of work, he confuses Democrats and Liberals with Stalin and Hitler because he identifies them with communism and socialism which in principle lean more toward the beliefs of Democrats and Liberals, but WTF, the world needs a bunch of raving idiots to amuse everyone
