Sometimes I see black people praising black leaders(like Jesse Jackson) who get 40 million dollars for education of black children but keep the money for themselves. They look to these black leaders in the same way. These black leaders say that white people don't want the black children to learn. Thus we get why you studying its a white thang. Sounds like the same thing to me

Kevin:

"I try to watch some of the religious channels now and then, just to look in on what is going on. I caught a sermon by Jerry F was the gist was that women wearing short pants was one of the causes of evil and the moral degradation of America"

Why does this upset you. There is no religion I know of that is totally rational and all of them are judgmental. How could they not be since they propose a moral standard? Also, aren't those who criticize these folks being judgmental in their own way.

My view has always been that we live in a country where all are free to practice religion as they see fit (within certain boundaries}. If we don't like the teachings of a particular religion, we have the choice not to belong. I see no difference in the hostility that is often shown to certain religions and the intolerance of those religions themselves. Just a thought!
