Tim - Re"Not only are American pretax salaries higher but since our taxes are lower you get to keep even more. "

Since our taxes are lower, why does Bush demand a tax cut that will produce budget deficits and will raid social security and medicare.

Check out what is happening in Texas after Bush's tax cuts based on phoney estimates. And the same for Brother Jeb in Florida.

Not only are American pretax salaries higher but since our taxes are lower you get to keep even more. I'm sure there are plenty of individual examples of people who find they are better off in Europe but overall we are richer. In fact if you don't limit discussion to the richest European countries then we are a lot richer then Europeans.

Tim,

A German from the original West Germany, a Swede or a Norwegian would be very interested to hear your claim. The numbers you quote do not tell the whole story by a long shot.
