<Go down to the library and look up what apology means to an oriental culture. Then look up what regret means to that culture. Finally look up what "face" means. Pete, go down to the library and get an Atlas. You'll see Asia is comprised of many, many countries. Some large, some small. If you do a little more research, you'll find that each one of those countries has individual cultures, rather than the "oriental culture" that you speak of.

And just to be a little more PC, you might want to use the term "Asian culture" rather than "oriental culture" (after you learn step one, of course).

As for your other 'scenario' about "not thinking Bush is experienced in oriental (correction: Chinese) culture", you are quite silly.

Pete,

You did not answer my question.....not surprising.

And frankly, I am not sure your take on the Asian culture is an accurate analysis of where the Chinese leaders sit in this matter nor does it take into account the split in their leadership......just like several years ago when Chinese leaders were faced with the same kind of save face proposition, and decided to massacre students in Tienman Square.

Are you willing to risk 24 lives on your take of the Chinese position? Sorry, but I'm not.
