Ish,
The draft ended about 6 months before I turned 18.

Neo,
The west has very diverse interests. Rural people who want wealth, and city people who want peace and quiet.

Large cities like Denver, LA, San Francisco, and Seattle vote Democratic. Rural areas vote Republican.

I testified in Kanab at a Congressional Subcommittee Hearing in 1973, wrt the Escalante Wilderness. It is a bitter battle which has gone on for 50 years, and I was very pleased to see Clinton finally lay it to rest.

Once the doors are opened to developing the National Park System, the end result will not be nice. It is like stealing the gold from the Cathedral.

How old were you in 73?

Huh ??? People usually live in a big city not for peace and quiet but to gain wealth. It is usually those who seek peace and freedom who live in the country.
