Sounds like inventory problems are not going away, hence the new product delay..Appears to be an attempt to force prospective buyers to wait or buy the channel stuffed units.Should be an interesting trading day, I sold into the strength yesterday, unsure of what the analyst meeting would bring.JMHO,DD

later than originally hoped

It's important to note the word 'originally'. Is 'originally' before, or after, Palm's March cc in which Yankowski said that volume shipments wouldn't occur until May? Did the author get it right in characterizing this information as an announcement of further delay, or is the information old news? The article quotes Yankowski as saying "the company will launch its m500 and m505 handhelds on time this spring but said the products won't be available in large volumes until later than originally hoped". If this is an announcement of further delay, I sure would like to know both the reasons and the new target dates for volume shipments.

What is the cause of the delay? I want a new PDA, my Palm III won't sync anymore and is acting weird. Palm m505 looks perfect - but every day I have to wait makes me look at alternatives. On the other hand, the alternatives' prices seem very high for what you get compared to what the new Palms have. They'll have to drop the prices quite a bit before I give up.

PALM UP nicely, renews PALM OS for HANDspring. EXPECT PALM SHORTAGES. Mr. Y blind eye visibility news is old news, and the markets have taken that into the price. Mr. Y I can tell him or you can, that the inventory will be once again swallowed up and there will be a PALM shortage not glut of inventory before Christmas.
I am,
Truly your$,

Palm cuts prices to deal with product glut

news.cnet.com

"Palm is cutting the price of its Palm Vx from $349 to $299, after having already trimmed the price last month with the announcement of two upcoming models, the m500 and m505. The company is also cutting the price of its low-end m100 from $149 to $129 and is making permanent a $30 discount on its Palm IIIc, bringing the older color model to $299..."
