Hi A, Here's the last 6 months of Short Interest...... WCOM WorldCom Inc. DATE SHARES SHORT AVE. DAILY VOL. DAYS TO COVER 04/01 80,478,309 37,152,767 2.17 03/01 72,183,418 41,761,846 1.73 02/01 56,740,560 39,616,833 1.43 01/01 57,792,982 62,157,037 0.93 12/00 54,742,288 51,547,713 1.06 11/00 44,692,868 65,370,313 0.68 Total shares short has been rising, but not as fast as I would have thought. If it back-fills to just one day's trading, that will represent about a 40MM share repurchase. It's then a matter of whether it will hold any gains generated by short repurchases. I'd like to think so, but WCOM has acted so peculiarly in recent times it's very hard to guess. Best regards, Tom
