One down today and 33 to go?

Rolling blackout (Gray-out) 4PM today in the second half of outage block 14. The CA ISO forecasts a total of 34 this summer.

Is that 34 total blackouts of any duration, or does it mean each of the 14 outage blocks will be out 34 times?

Zeuspaul,

Biomass, coal, you certainly aren't worried about global warming! BTW do you know if any "clean" coal technology is currently being used in a large coal burning power plant? I read that LADWP gets something like 50% of their power from coal burning plants-all, out of state, naturally.

I don't necessarily want more refineries built in the U.S., my point is that of the available energy sources CURRENTLY used, supplies are tight for all of them. And if large diesel generators are used this summer to keep factories, office buildings and hospitals running, things may be even tighter. I noticed, that USA Today wrote that dealers in Chicago and California are being warned about $3/gallon gasoline.
