Interestingly enough, a friend was again today asking about Intel's $7.5B capex spending and how much was going to AMAT.

I responded, "shouldn't you be asking, just how much is left" ?

The point being time has past since Intel's announcement, and what has been spent and to who is not as important as "what is left and who gets it".

Just my thoughts

Stan

>>A significant market share win by AMD could put into question Intel's huge capex spending plans.<<

I disagree. AMD will win market share away from Intel (or not), based on three factors: performance, availability, or price. Building more fabs improves both availability and price, and spending for advanced technology improves performance.

That's why they call the chip industry a no-limit poker table. Outspending the other guy tends to be a very successful tactic.
