Oh PLEASE! Now you are exasperating me. %age growth is hogwash. If I tell you company A grew at a 100% rate and company B grew at a 15% rate, which would you choose? In your infinite wisdom, I'm sure you'd choose company A. However, the less naive of us, would ask several more questions like 1) what are A and B's respective market shares and 2) what is the total size of the market and 3) how fast is the total market growing?

If Cisco hold 70% market share, then they get the lion's share of the growth of a market. End of story. The only thing that makes a difference is if the other companies are taking market share away fast, like Juniper was doing at one point.

<<Check recent Dell'Oro report on Ethernet switching 1Q'01, where CSCO's #1 position gave them a 16% growth, while NT, 3Com and Extreme garnered 22%, 26% and 29% growth respectively. >>

Gee, and I thought csco's only competitor was Juniper! LOL!
