Jim, Re: If P4 has this and it does the same thing, it's a good thing. If a P4 clocks back while under heavy CPU usage as in gaming, this wouldn't be so good... It would be a fraud

You mean you would rather have the machine crash in the middle(no matter what it is doing) instead of having it slow down a bit ?

I believe the Athlon 4 has some kind of on chip thermistor that shuts it down if the HSF fails? If P4 has this and it does the same thing, it's a good thing. If a P4 clocks back while under heavy CPU usage as in gaming, this wouldn't be so good... It would be a fraud.

And just why would the P4 be a fraud but the Athlon is fine? Athlons crash. Athlons have no safety mechanism yet you call the P4 a fraud. Crashing is good but throttling is bad? Your AMDite hypocrisy is showing.

It would be fraud if Intel advertised a 1.7GHz system without a clear disclaimer explaining (to the layman) under what conditions the system may not run at 1.7GHz. At this point in time, I see no such disclaimer. Wonder why???
