Be proud of your heritage and say farewell to kings.

"The guns replace the plow, facades are tarnished now
The principles have been betrayed
The dream's gone stale, but still, let hope prevail
History's debt won't be repaid."

A couple of corrections... which probably help (y)our argument <g>

Australia is a 'monarchy' only inasmuch as it hasn't removed the Queen as HoS yet (qua Canada?). Norway and the Netherlands are two other excellent examples of modern, highly democratic, stable and rich societies with monarchs having much popularity and minimal if any power. And yes, both are extremely good places to live, by every survey of standards and society.
Japan is perhaps an interesting example... absolutism is closer in memory than most.

That's why I reluctantly defend it - although it's a worse ideal, it seems to work well in practice, especially compared to alternatives... if one can remove the trappings of privileged aristocracy (as the UK hasn't), so much the better.
BTW, it also works out quite cheaply overall <g>
