Compaq and HWP have Microsoft support to push the Pocket PCs. They are gaining. I recall, big backloggs for the Compaq I-Paq handheld. Those may be replacements for desktops (for business use)to some degree because they will have a version of Office and a Windows operating system. No compatibility issues are going to arise. IMHO, they will be preferred for business applications over Palm/Handspring. I am still waiting for Handspring to launch a Windows based handheld at some point. At least they know, MSFT will not compete with them in this market (unlike Palm) and will just be a software supplier. That is the best way to get into the business market,imho. I know they did some deal with MSFT and that is why I would not be surprised to see a Windows handheld from them...just a hunch on my part. In the consumer market, Palm may recover but expect it to be a luxury item and not a replacement for business PCs. Really hard to bet against Microsoft here. Of course I am way way long Microsoft.<g>
