E,

No answer here... but a question.

If there is a defragging god, you certainly do pay him or her regular homage....why do you defrag (seemingly) so often? I know defragging is a good thing, but I defrag maybe once a week unless things are goofier than usual.

E

I experience the same thing on occasion. I'm using Win98 se with the shutdown patch but still run into the problem. I have guessed that's it's a small glitch between Enditall and my computer fighting over which one is boss. I figure a TSR (terminate and stay resident program) doesn't close properly (enditall will not close these). When you have to shut down via the manual shutdown button the improper shutdown message is normal since you've done something windows wasn't expecting. The small bit of time wasted waiting for the quick scandisk to run doesn't bother me so I haven't tried to run the problem down and fix it. Maybe someone else on the CL thread has run into this and figured it out.

What operating system are you running? We would need that info to try to run the problem down.

E, after disk check has completed because of the improper shutdown, does it shutdown in a normal way or does it have the same problem, ie: does not power down?

Regards,
Nick
