just don't give up on the folks who try to help. in a sense, you owe them the opportunity to make themselves understood. there is a reciprocity involved in learning, and it really only begins to function when the person with the question has the determination to say, "sorry, i don't quite get what you have told me."

Very well said. One of the most crucial things involved in a teacher/student relationship is the finding of a common ground of comprehension. The really good teachers are able to get their ideas across to their students in a manner that they can understand. Like most of the people that frequent this thread, I have a few people that I try to help when they have a computer problem or when they need to learn how to do something new. I think I get more upset with myself than they get when they don't understand what I'm trying to say. Basic familiarity with computer terms is a definite roadblock that must be overcome.

Perfect...should be in the thread header!

tc :-)

Mark: The ditto was not meant as a criticism of you and the thread. The people here are wonderful. It is an expression of my frustration at being so behind the curve and so dense. I have had computers for 7 years and I know I should have better computer skills than I presently have. For instance on one of my computers I am unable to change the screen resolution because the "apply" button is not showing on the screen. I know it is a simple task but I cannot figure it out so I live with it.

Thanks again for all the help.
