Prosyletizing would seem to only be obscene if you start with the idea that the religon is false (and its not necessarily obscene even then).

I find most religions obscene because of the concepts they espouse such as eternal torture, racial superiority, and so forth. Different religions have diverse dogmas, but I am generally insulted by the subjective prattling.

I don't see a lot of force by religious organizations any more.

The reason the force is less easily seen is due to the opposing forces which contain it. In many countries it is not contained. In some countries it is. History has shown us the horror of religious dominance when the bridle was off the horse.

I forget who said, "the price of freedom is eternal vigilence," but I agree with it. I have no doubt the world will be run by madmen once again. I simply hope it will wait for a few years...

Don't you find it just a little bit odd, that we should be proselytized, and forced if necessary, to stop proselytizing. I agree that it is wrong to force anyone to believe in a particular view of God. He is capable of straightening people out all on His own. But this hypocritical, so called tolerance, is just as much, an imposition of belief as any religious fundamentalist could come up with in his wildest dreams.

The free market of ideas is where it's at. Let your doctrine stand or fall on the strength of it's fidelity with truth. But let's dispense with this pretense about Materialistic Naturalism, being philosophically and spiritually neutral. It claims truth for itself as much as any other view, and even when the books are cooked in it's favor, people still refuse to abandon that which is obvious to all but the most willfully blind, the fact that God exists and we are responsible to Him. This drives the Atheist crowd crazy, and they write every one off as ignorant, but it simply won't go away.
